Things have been pretty quiet since my last post until last week, and things got busy. I received my inheritance check in the mail from my grandparents. That event also constituted a meltdown when I was putting the check in the bank. The knowledged of financial security is nice, but the knowledge of where the money came from is a hard thing to swallow for me. I felt like such a fool bawling at the tellers window, but I just felt so overwhelmed.
The money has made it possible to pay off Chris' car, which he has been paying for faithfully. I also got some new furniture for the house that we had been needing for oh so long.
Rodney also happens to be driving the biggest, baddest Dodge known to mankind. He is tickled to death, and it puts a smile in my heart to know that I could get him something that makes him so happy, and his co-workers green with envy. It must be the testosterone thing.
The other great thing that has happened is that Rodney agreed to quit smoking. I have quite honestly been nagging his ass for years to stop. He has been wearing the patch and doing awesome, except when the patch fell off unknowingly and he started the Jeckyl and Hyde routine. I will try to be patient. It's a habit he has had for years, and a bad one to kick.
Sunday is the Nascar race in Loudon, and since we have tickets, I am really looking forward to going. My mom is going to her first cup race and I am looking forward to see her enjoy it as much as we did the first time.
