At long last, the weather is improving, in that the sun is shining more often and I can see bare ground in many places. Spring is so slow to come to the north. I am used to Virginia, when this time of year the daffodils and croecus are blooming and the grass is turning green. It's such an awakening.
Christopher called yesterday afternoon to see what we were doing, planning on coming up for a visit after he got home from work. It's funny, and I mentioned it to him before, that I think that we spoke and saw him more often when we lived in Rumford. NO! I am not moving back to Rumford, but I will remind Chris that we do like to see him. Anyway, I was planning roast chicken for dinner and invited him to join us. Since he lives by himself, I always think that he is not eating well, and even though he works at Amatos, it's just not the same as a home cooked meal. He's not wasting away by any means, but it's just a mom thing. At least it is for me. After dinner, the weather was still nice, so we set out for a walk around the circle. On our way back, we were able to meet more of our neighbors. We had met Mark, who lives directly across from us, but his wife was inside the first time we spoke. She was on her way out for her own walk last night, so we stopped to introduce ourselves and another neighbor was driving down the street, and he stopped as well and he ended up there so long, he turned off his Jeep. Everyone we have met so far have been really great, and we all have things in common, namely NASCAR. Rodney is in heaven when he can talk racing, and Dan, (the guy in the Jeep), happens to be a Tony Stewart fan....big ugh there!!! I will try not to hold that against him. They assured us that everyone tends to look out for everyone else, and it was nice to know that there are still neighbors that care about each other. I am so glad we are here.
Sheri sent me some awesome CD's to burn and I can hardly wait to listen to them all. I'm trying to broaden my music horizons and my newest love is of celtic music. It is so relaxing and soothing. I would also like to get some classical music to listen to when I need some down time. Man, I must be getting old!!!

After being away for awhile, I think I am finally ready to start posting again. Moving to the new house was an event I wouldn't want to repeat on a regular basis. The new house is great, and I am happy as hell to be here. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet, something we didn't have at the old place. Our backyard is woods, with no houses behind us and we have seen some wild turkeys sashaying thru the yard looking for breakfast. Sometimes there are only one or two, sometimes there are five or six. You don't realize just how big these birds are until you get close. The cats are in their glory with all this new territory to explore and are gone for hours at a time checking out the woods.
We got up one morning a couple of weekends ago, to find several turkeys pecking around at the top of the hill. Both cats were out and I was nervous as hell that Tigger would have his hunter/killer instincts kick in and he would charge into the middle of he flock and end up torn to shreds. He was smart enough to sit quietly and just observe, phew! He is the one that tends to have more balls than brains, so you can imagine what must be going thru his mind looking at all that bird.
The other day the turkeys were coming down over the hill behind the house after the rain we had gotten on top of the snow, and it was quite a sight! They would walk a couple of steps and fall on their asses, get up and try again! They managed to make it into the neighbors yard, where it slopes down toward their shed and they got to the point where gravity took over and they just gave up and just went with the flow. If you have never seen turkeys take a dump on their butts, it's a sight to see. I laughed for hours over the memory. I wish I had a video camera to record the action.
It's almost time for camping to begin, we seasonals are chomping at the bit to get up there and get set up to go. This year we are moving to a new site and have all kinds of work to do, It will be worth it since we love being there, seeing our friends and relaxing. Hoping for warm, dry weather to speed up the melting. I wonder if anyone knows how to do a sun dance?
